It has come to our notice that certain agencies are circulating e-mails offering online registration for Aadhaar. These e-mails also suggest residents who have already received Aadhaar need to re-enrol. The UIDAI would like to clarify for the benefit of general public ...

• Enrollment for Aadhaar is done at designated Aadhaar enrolment centres only. The resident needs to visit only these enrolment centres. The UIDAI does not currently offer online enrollment.
• The list of enrolment centres can be seen online at http://uidai.gov.in/where-to-enroll.html
• Appointment for Aadhaar enrolment may be obtained online at the following linkhttps://appointments.uidai.gov.in/easearch.aspx. However, for actual enrolment process, physical presence of the resident is a must.
• There is no last date for enrolment. Residents can enroll anytime as per their convenience at the designated centres. Enrolment for Aadhaar is a continuous process with no last date.
• Sharing of bank related details is voluntary and not mandatory. In case a resident wishes to open a new bank account linked to resident's Aadhaar number or link an existing bank account with Aadhaar, then they may provide the relevant information on the enrolment form at the time of enrolment.
• Resident's data shared with UIDAI while enrolling is fully safe and it is not shared with anybody without resident's consent. The residents who have already received Aadhaar or enrolled for Aadhaar need not enroll again unless specifically advised in writing by the UIDAI.

UIDAI issues 70 Crore Aadhaar Numbers

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued 70 crore Aadhaar numbers as on 28th October 2014.
As on date, nine states including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, have crossed 90 percent Aadhaar coverage, while sixteen states have Aadhaar coverage of over 70 percent. UIDAI is also conducting Aadhaar enrolments in the newly assigned states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh, at a fast pace. These four states with a combined population of about 34 crore, were added earlier this year to UIDAI’s mandate by the government. As on date, Aadhaar numbers have been issued to 8.93 crore residents in these states, which is 26% of the target population.
Over 25,000 Aadhaar enrolment kits are operational across the country as on date, including both camp mode and Permanent Enrolment Centres, with a total output of approximately 10 lakh enrolments per day. UIDAI has already geared up its processing capabilities to achieve the targets and has the capacity to process around 15 lakh enrolment packets every day. Enrolments are expected to pick up further once the festival season is over.
In the recent months, Government of India has provided fresh impetus to the UIDAI by linking Aadhaar to various schemes and initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), MGNREGS, Pensions, Scholarships, DBTL, UAN (EPFO), PDS, Passports, Attendance system in government offices etc.
Aadhaar facilitates "anytime, anywhere" online authentication of a resident through universal verification of one's identity based on the demographic and biometric information of an individual, thereby eliminating any chances of duplication or fraud. Aadhaar
not only provides universal mobility of identity to every resident, but also assists in online booking of tickets and in applying for a passport. It is also a proof of identity (PoI) and a proof of address (PoA) for opening a bank account, as it meets the 'Know Your Customer' (KYC) norms of Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Under the recently launched PMJDY, Aadhaar, through its online e-KYC service, proves one’s digital identity beyond doubts and uniquely enables an individual to open a bank account instantly, in a paperless manner. Aadhaar is now the world’s largest biometric database.

The top of your acknowledgement slip contains 14 digit enrolment number and the 14 digit date and time of enrolment. These 28 digits together form your temporary enrolment ID (EID).

The process is simple. Go to Karvy between 7:30AM and 9:00 to collect the token number, which will be written on top of the form. Based on the token number you can be present to undergo the enrollment process. Daily they issue 200 tokens.

UID Aadhaar Enrolment in Bangalore

‎35 Bangalore post offices to help to enrol for Aadhaar, six in Bangalore East and South each, and 22 in Bangalore West. These are mainly main post offices. The issue with the post offices is that we need to wait for at least one month after submitting the form to get the appointment for enrolment. Some post offices are not even accepting forms. They are asking the public to come after one month.

Benefits of Aadhaar

• Great potential for not-so-privileged, poor and the marginalised people, mostly living in the rural areas
• Clear proof of identity
• Facilitate entry for poor and underprivileged residents into the formal banking system
• Opportunity to avail services provided by the government and the private sector
• Giving migrants mobility of  identity
• Financial inclusion with deeper penetration of banks, insurance and easy distribution of benefits of government schemes.

Once a person is on the Aadhaar database the person will be able to establish identity easily. Aadhaar will become the single source of identity verification. Residents would be spared the hassle of repeatedly providing supporting identity documents each time they wish to access services such as obtaining a bank account, passport, driving license and so on. By providing a clear proof of identity, Aadhaar will also facilitate entry for poor and underprivileged residents into the formal banking system and the opportunity to avail services provided by the government and the private sector.  Aadhaar will also give migrants mobility of identity.

Aadhaar for NRI

The Aadhaar Number/ UID would be issued to every individual resident in India that satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI, including NRIs, and foreigners residing in India. The physical presence in India for providing fingerprints and other bio-metrics etc is necessary. Aadhaar UID doesn’t establish citizenship and is not only for Indians.

Aadhar Card Status

Aadhar Card Status  can be checked with the Aadhaar Enrollment Number, Data and Time provided by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) at the time of registration.
As per UIDAI, aadhaar number is being delivered within 60 to 90 days after enrollment
Pre-requisites:

• Enrollment Number (Provided to you while registering at enrollment camp)
• Date and Time (of enrollment) -
  • Date need to be entered in following format: dd/mm/yyyy (dd=day, mm=month, yyyy=year)
  • Time need to be entered in following format: hh:mm:ss (hh=hour, mm=minutes, ss=seconds)

Note: Enter the time also, most of the times the visitors enter the date only and don’t bother to enter the time.

Documents needed for enrollment

Along with the filled Aadhaar enrollment form, following documents need to be produced in original or attested copies from notary/gazetted officer.

In case one does not have documents for proof – Introducer System

In the case of people who do not have documents for proof, there is an introducer system. The Registrar for enrollment can designate individuals who can vouch for the validity of a person’s information. Introducers can be government agencies, banks, teachers, village postmen, elected representatives and NGOs. Introducers will be enrolled first and given training. Their UID will be mentioned among the details of the person who gets enrolled.

How to get an Aadhaar?

• Aadhaar enrolment is free.
• You can go to any authorized Aadhaar enrollment center anywhere in India with your identity and address proof.
• UIDAI process accepts 18 PoI (Proof of Identity) and 33 PoA (Proof of Address) documents. Please click here for a nationally valid list of documents. Common proofs of identity and address are election photo ID card, Ration card, passport and driving license.
• Photo ID cards like PAN card and Govt ID cards are permissible for identity proof. Address proof documents also include water – electricity – telephone bills from the last three months.
• In case you do not have above common proofs, Certificate of Identify having photo issued by Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead is also accepted as PoI. Certificate of Address having photo issued by MP or MLA /Gazetted Officer/Tehsildar on letterhead or by Village Panchayat head or its equivalent authority (for rural areas) is accepted as valid PoA.
• Even if someone in a family does not have individual valid documents, the resident can still enrol if his/her name exists in family entitlement document. In this case the Head of Family in entitlement document needs to be enrolled first with valid PoI & PoA document. The head of the household can then introduce other members in the family while they are enrolling. UIDAI accepts 8 document types as Proof of Relationship. • Where there are no documents available, resident may also take the help of Introducers available at the enrolment centre. The Introducers are notified by the Registrar. For further details please contact office of the concerned Registrar.
• At the enrollment center, please fill your personal details within the form. Your photo, finger-prints and iris scan will also be taken as a part of the enrollment. You can review the details you have provided and make corrections during enrolment itself. You will get an acknowledgment slip with an temporary enrolment number and other details captured during enrolment
• You need to enrol only once. Enrolling again is a waste of your time as you will get only one Aadhaar number.
• Based on your information provided, your details will be verified centrally. If your application is successful, an Aadhaar number will be generated and mailed to your address.
• The waiting time for Aadhaar may vary from 60-90 days after receipt of resident data packets in CIDR. However, it could take even longer in case enrolment is done through NPR exercise.
  After enrolment, quality checks are done by the enrolment centre supervisors, followed by correction process (where required) and data packet consolidation. Subsequently, the Enrolment Agency sends the data to UIDAI data centre. The data undergoes various stages of screening and validations in CIDR. This ensures that the source of data is authenticated besides ensuring that no duplicate exists. Sample Quality checks are done on demographic and biometric data collected from residents. Apart from that the Operator/Supervisor/Introducer/Enrolment Agency and Registrar information in each packet is also validated. Only after passing the data quality checks and other validations, the packet goes for de-duplication and Aadhaar gets generated.
  In case of any errors, the packet goes on hold. For example if the particulars of the Operator who enrolled the resident are found to be inconsistent with database or there is a mismatch observed in photo and age/gender (ex. a child's photo with age mentioned as 50 yrs), then the packet is held for further enquiry. Corrective actions are taken on such packets, wherever possible, else a rejection letter guiding resident to re-enroll is dispatched to the resident. India Post is entrusted with the responsibility of printing and delivery of Aadhaar letters. Depending on backlog for generation, location of delivery etc. India Post may ordinarily take 3-5 weeks to print and deliver Aadhaar letters to the residents.
  In the case of Aadhaar enrolments through NPR exercise, the method of verification is the RGI approved LRUR(Local Register of Usual Residents) verification process. The Aadhaar number will be issued only after completion of the LRUR process which could take much longer than the time prescribed above. Residents can verify the name of their Registrar at the enrolment centres or on the acknowledgement provided to them at the time of enrolment.
